Iida City, Nagano Prefecture has dispatched staff and water trucks to Shimizu Ward, Shizuoka City, where water supply has been cut off on a large scale due to Typhoon No. 15.

In Shimizu Ward, Shizuoka City, more than 30,000 households are still without water due to a large amount of driftwood and sand clogging the intake of the river due to Typhoon No. 15.



Several local governments in Shizuoka Prefecture and neighboring Nagano Prefecture have started to support water supply activities based on the Japan Water Works Association's agreement on mutual support in the event of a disaster. We will dispatch one water truck to Shimizu Ward.



At the departure ceremony held at the Iida City Hall on the morning of the 29th, Deputy Mayor Osamu Takada encouraged the residents, saying, "The water supply has continued to be cut off, and the residents are having a hard time. Please do your best as the representative of Iida City."



The staff will enter Shimizu Ward in the early afternoon of the 29th and will carry out water supply activities from the 30th to the 2nd of next month.



Mr. Takashi Matsue of the Iida City Waterworks and Sewerage Bureau, who was dispatched, said, "I would like to work with the residents who feel uneasy about the long-term water outage."
