Since the water storage rate of the Hayamiura Dam in Kochi Prefecture, which is known as the water tank of Shikoku, is expected to fall below 30%, the council formed by the national government and the four prefectures of Shikoku will start the third water intake restriction from July 2. Was announced.

The third water intake restriction will be the first in nine years since 2013, and the supply to Kagawa Prefecture will be reduced by 50%.

The Hayamiura Dam in Kochi Prefecture, which is located upstream of the Yoshino River, is the main water source for Kagawa and Tokushima prefectures.

The amount of rain around the dam continues to be much lower than normal, and the water storage rate of the dam is 34.3% as of midnight on the 30th, which is more than 50 points lower than normal.

Since it is expected that the water storage rate will fall below 30% without heavy rain in the future, the council formed by the national government and the four prefectures of Shikoku will start the third water intake restriction from 9:00 am on July 2. Announced.

The third water intake restriction is the first in nine years since 2013.

The second water intake restriction has already been implemented to reduce the supply to Kagawa prefecture by 35%, but the reduction rate will be raised to 50% by the third water intake restriction.

In response to this, Kagawa Prefecture will set up a drought countermeasures headquarters on July 1, and will decide on specific water conservation measures.

In addition to starting water intake from the regulating pond "Hozan Lake" in Mitoyo City, the water from the Kabagawa Dam, which was completed in Takamatsu City last year and is being stored on a trial basis, will have an impact on people's lives. The policy is to take measures to minimize it.
