In the "Iwate-Miyagi Inland Earthquake" that occurred on June 14, 2008, tremors with a seismic intensity of over 6 were observed in Kurihara City, Miyagi Prefecture and Oshu City, Iwate Prefecture, and a large-scale landslide disaster occurred, causing 17 people. Six people have died and are still missing.

On the 14th, 14 years after the earthquake, the bereaved family and the area were in front of the memorial monument set up near the inn "Koma no Yu Onsen" in Kurihara City, where a total of seven guests and employees died due to the debris flow. Approximately 40 people, including residents, gathered and offered a silence at 8:43 am, the time of the earthquake.



After that, Akio Sugawara (66), who was the owner of "Koma no Yu Onsen" and lost his mother and brother, said on behalf of the bereaved family, "I lost an important family, but with the cooperation of local residents, the area before the disaster little by little. I feel like I'm back in shape. I want to look forward and do my best. "



Emi Sugawara (45), who lost her mother who was an employee of the inn, said, "In 14 years, my feelings for my mother haven't changed. I offered flowers. "
