In February of last year, Miyagi Prefecture newly recognized that a man in his 50s in Iwanuma City died due to the earthquake that observed violent shaking with a maximum seismic intensity of 6 or higher in Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures on the 15th.

This is the first time that the earthquake has killed people in Miyagi prefecture.

On February 13, last year, there was a magnitude 7.3 earthquake with an epicenter off the coast of Fukushima Prefecture, and we observed violent shaking with a maximum seismic intensity of 6 or higher in Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures.



According to the Fire and Disaster Management Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the earthquake killed two people in Fukushima Prefecture, including related deaths, and injured more than 180 people in 10 prefectures such as Fukushima and Miyagi.



On the 15th, more than a year after the earthquake, Miyagi Prefecture announced that it has newly certified a man in his 50s in Iwanuma City as a so-called "direct death" who died due to the earthquake.



Police have not disclosed the exact cause of death of the man, but according to the prefecture, it is the first time that the earthquake has killed people in Miyagi prefecture, including related deaths.
