Typhoon No. 14, which is extremely strong, is expected to travel northward over the sea west of Yonaguni Island, Okinawa Prefecture, and to approach the Yaeyama region considerably after noon on the 12th.

The wind is starting to get stronger in the Yaeyama region, and there is a risk of a fierce wind blowing on the 12th.

Be very vigilant against storms and high waves, and move to a sturdy building as soon as possible to ensure your safety.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, Typhoon No. 14, which is extremely strong, is expected to travel 170 km southwest of Yonaguni Island, Okinawa Prefecture, to the north at a speed of about 20 km per hour at 6 am on the 12th.

The air pressure at the center is 935 hectopascals, the maximum wind speed near the center is 50 meters, the maximum instantaneous wind speed is 70 meters, and a storm with a wind speed of 25 meters or more is blowing within a radius of 85 km from the center.

The typhoon is expected to develop to 905 hectopascals at the center of the typhoon at one point, and then remain a very strong force, although it has weakened slightly, and will approach the Toshima Islands, where Ishigaki Island and Miyako Island are located, from early afternoon to early evening on the 12th.

Yaeyama region, fear of fierce wind

Strict caution is required especially for storms.

In the Yaeyama region, the wind was already strong, and at Tonoshiro, Ishigaki City, we observed a maximum instantaneous wind speed of 28.6 meters after 2:10 am, and at Yonaguni Island, we observed a maximum instantaneous wind speed of 26.2 meters after 5:10 am.

Due to the approaching typhoon, it is expected that a fierce wind will blow on the 12th and it will be rough, and the maximum wind speed in the Yaeyama region is expected to be 45 meters and the maximum instantaneous wind speed is expected to be 65 meters.

In the past, utility poles and block walls may fall over, and cars may roll over, so the Japan Meteorological Agency is calling for measures such as moving inside a sturdy building and moving indoors away from windows.

In the Yaeyama region, it has already become a big swell with swells, and it is expected to be a ferocious swell of 10 meters from before noon.

In addition, rain clouds around the typhoon have begun to fall, and heavy rain is intermittently falling.

As the rain clouds with the developed typhoon gradually flow in, heavy rain may occur with lightning, resulting in heavy rain.

The amount of rain in the Yaeyama region in the 24 hours until the morning of the 13th is expected to be 180 mm.

The Japan Meteorological Agency warns against storms and high waves in the Maejima Islands, warns against sediment-related disasters, inundation of low land, and flooding of rivers, and calls for careful attention to gusts such as lightning strikes and tornadoes.

Be careful of the risk of heavy rains in western Japan and future course

The typhoon is expected to approach the continent after passing near the Maejima Islands, but the westerlies that move the typhoon are expected to stagnate near the East China Sea over the 16th because it is near the Korean Peninsula.

The course of the typhoon is wide, but it may approach western Japan such as Kyushu later this week.

Due to the effect of moist air flowing toward the front, there are local rain clouds in Kyushu and other areas, and in the future, the amount of rainfall will increase as the typhoon moves northward, and there is a risk of heavy rainfall around the 16th.
