On the morning of the 23rd, a woman's body was found in the Midori River flowing through Misato Town, Kumamoto Prefecture.

Police are confirming the identity of a 78-year-old woman in Yamato-cho who is missing after going out saying "I'm going to see the fields" due to the heavy rain on the 17th of this month.

The missing person is Sumiko Sakamoto (78) from Yamato Town, Kumamoto Prefecture.



Mr. Sakamoto went out saying "I'm going to see the state of the field" around 6 am on the 17th of this month when it rained heavily in Kumamoto prefecture, and on the 18th, on the 18th, Sakamoto's light truck on the Sentaki River flowing near his home. After finding the steering wheel, police continued to search for the possibility that Mr. Sakamoto was washed away by the flooded river.



Then, after 10 am on the 23rd, a Kumamoto Prefectural Police mobilizer found the body of a woman in Midorikawa, Misato Town, about 10 kilometers away from Mr. Sakamoto's home.



The body was scratched and was found near a fence that dammed driftwood.



Police are proceeding with confirmation of the identity of the body, assuming that it is Mr. Sakamoto.
