According to a contact from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Hawaii to the Japan Meteorological Agency, there was a major earthquake with a magnitude of 7.3 that originated off the east coast of the North Island of New Zealand at around 10:27 pm on the 4th of Japan time.
According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, a tsunami may occur near the epicenter, but this earthquake has no effect on Japan.
