In response to a request from Yokote City, which has had a record heavy snowfall, Akita Prefecture requested the Ground Self-Defense Force to dispatch a disaster at 4:00 pm on the 5th.
In Yokote City, the snowfall as of 3:00 pm on the 5th is 1 meter 71 cm, which is more than four times the normal, and there are some houses such as elderly people who may not be able to catch up with the snow on the roof and may collapse.
Therefore, in response to a request from the city, the prefecture requested the Ground Self-Defense Force to dispatch a disaster for snow removal work at 4:00 pm on the 5th.
It is the first time in January 2006 that Akita Prefecture has requested the Self-Defense Forces to dispatch a disaster due to heavy snowfall.
