Nine and a half years after the Great East Japan Earthquake Police searched for missing persons and leftovers at 11:56 on September 11

On the 11th, nine and a half years after the Great East Japan Earthquake and the nuclear accident, police searched for people who are still missing in the coastal areas of Fukushima Prefecture.

According to police, as of the 10th, 1614 people were killed in the tsunami caused by the earthquake in Fukushima prefecture, and the whereabouts of 196 people are unknown.

On the 11th, about 120 police officers searched for missing persons and leftovers at seven locations along the coast of the prefecture.

Of these, on the coast of Minamisoma City, where 87 people are still unknown, about 50 people, including local police officers, first silently prayed for one minute toward the sea.

After that, riot police with air cylinders and snorkels dived into the sea looking for remnants on the seabed and digging up the sand on the beach with a hoe, looking for clues to the missing person.

Takuya Tsukuda, a 30-year-old police officer in charge of reconstruction support at the Minamisoma Police Department, who was seconded from the Osaka Prefectural Police Department in April, said, "The missing person wants to return to his family and his family. Is waiting for his return as soon as possible, so I would like to do a polite search to keep that in mind. "

It has been nine and a half years since the earthquake and the nuclear accident, but in the disaster area, such a mass search is conducted on the 11th of every month and around that time, and the police will continue to search for people who are missing.
