The maximum instantaneous wind speed of Typhoon 9 is expected to reach 70 meters near the center, and the maximum instantaneous wind speed of the Okinawa Main Island and Miyakojima regions on the 1st of next month is expected to be 40 to 60 meters.

According to the Japan Institute of Wind Engineering, the maximum instantaneous wind speed of 60 meters is equivalent to 216 km in terms of hourly speed, and outdoor activities are extremely dangerous.

▽Part of a wooden house may collapse, and even a steel-framed building may be deformed.
▽Telephone poles and block walls may fall down, and
▽Trucks that are running may overturn.

Five years ago, Typhoon No. 15 observed a maximum instantaneous wind speed of 71 meters on Ishigaki Island in Okinawa, causing a series of damages such as cars being blown and utility poles falling, and 10 people were injured in Okinawa Prefecture.

Also, in Typhoon No.21, Ototoshito, which observed a maximum instantaneous wind speed of 58.1 meters at Osaka's Kansai Airport, a tanker was swept away by strong winds, causing damage to the connecting bridge at Kansai Airport.

Due to typhoon No. 15 last year when power outages and houses were damaged in places such as Chiba, the maximum instantaneous wind speed in Chiba City reached 57.5 meters.

The Meteorological Agency is calling on Okinawa to refrain from going out unnecessarily soon after the night of 31st and to stay vigilant against windstorms indoors by moving away from windows.
