Temporarily closed elementary and junior high school due to record heavy rain Yamagata Oishida Town etc. August 3 23:28

Due to record heavy rain, temporary school closures continued in Oishida Town in Yamagata Prefecture and elementary and junior high schools in Obanazawa City, and the children's lively voices resonated for the first time in about a week.

There are 8 schools in total, including Oishida Town and Obanazawa City's elementary and junior high schools. The school continued to be closed due to the record heavy rain in late July, but the water was cut off, so I resumed classes from the 3rd.

Of these, at Oishida Elementary School in Oishida-cho, children went to school at 8 am and lively greetings were heard for the first time in about a week.

According to the school, some of the children were evacuated to evacuation centers and were forced to stay overnight in the car, so at the morning assembly, the teachers cared for each one and said, ``Is the flood or water supply okay?'' I was playing.

A 6th grade boy said, “It was difficult because I couldn't use the toilets because of water outage. I was happy to see him after a long time.”

Atsushi Suzuki, the principal of Oishida Elementary School, said, "Fortunately, the children were safely injured and went to school safely. In the future, we will take care of the children's minds and experience disasters, so we will have disaster drills. I want to keep it alive."

Now, all the schools in Yamagata prefecture, which were closed due to the heavy rain, have been restarted.
