Record Heavy Rain Gero City Debris Certificate Investigation Begins Gifu July 16 23:49

In Gero City, Gifu Prefecture, where many houses were flooded due to record heavy rain, a survey on the damage situation of houses to issue a disaster certificate began.

In Gero, a record heavy rain caused more than 190 houses to be flooded and six to be partially destroyed, causing damage to the houses one after another.

The city has been accepting applications for the issuance of a disaster certificate that will be required when carrying out restoration work with official support from the 10th of this month. I started work to check the situation.

Of these, in Kosaka-cho, Gero City, we visited the damaged houses, listened to the stories of the residents, and looked at the walls and floors to check the height and range of the soil that had flowed in.

Requests for issuance of disaster certificates are accepted at city halls and four promotion offices in the city.

Minoru Nomura of the Gero City Tax Department said, “We are trying to get it issued early, so I would like anyone who suffered damage to apply.”

Nobuyoshi Yamashita (83), who suffered damage to his house, said, “I would like to continue living here in the future. With the support, I could repair my house and restart.”
