Yufu Oita: Mud spills mud “Water has crossed the fence” 12:04, July 8

In Hashima-cho, Yufu City, Oita Prefecture, the flooding of the Oita River has caused flood damage to houses along the river, and the residents are busy with the work of scraping mud.

The heavy rain from the night of the 7th flooded the Oita River near the left bank of the Shimoichi area in Fusuma-cho, Yufu City.

Driftwood, which is more than 10 meters long, flowed along the riverbank, and the houses and company offices along the river remained after flooding to a height of about 1 meter.

In another building, the shutter was broken due to the force of the flowing water, and the furniture was also lying down.

Residents used shovels to scrape mud accumulated on roads and grounds.

A man who was working said, "The water was coming over the wall. It was raining more and more since the date changed, and the momentum of the water was so great that I could not escape."

A woman living near the river said, "I've lived here for decades, but this is the first time the water level has risen to here."
