Mt. Asama volcanic earthquakes increase Attention to very small eruptions 10:39 on June 21

Volcanic earthquakes have increased from the 20th on Mt. Asama on the prefectural border between Nagano and Gunma, and volcanic tremors, which are thought to indicate movement of underground hot water and volcanic gas, have been observed. The Meteorological Agency continues to call for eruption alert level 1 and calls attention to very small eruptions and future volcanic activity.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, volcanic earthquakes increased from 20th on Mt. Asama, which is on the prefectural border between Nagano and Gunma, and was observed 38 times on 20th and 9 times by 9am on 21st.

In addition, volcanic tremors, which are thought to indicate the movement of underground hot water and volcanic gas, were observed twice on the 20th, and slight changes indicating the expansion of mountains were also observed.

The Japan Meteorological Agency will continue the eruption warning level 1 indicating “Keep it active,” and will continue to report that there is a possibility of a very small eruption affecting the range of 500 meters from the crater. We are paying attention to the eruption of volcanic ash and volcanic gas, and call on you not to enter dangerous areas according to the instructions of the local government.

We also want you to be aware of the possibility that volcanic activity will become more active.

In August last year, a small eruption occurred at the eruption alert level 1 in August, and the alert level was temporarily raised to 3, but since November last year it has been at level 1.
