On the day after his 85th birthday, the famous crime writer Harlan Thrombey is found dead on his estate. The charming detective Benoit Blanc is called in to investigate his suspicious death. In 1930, Stalin accused a group of prominent economists and engineers in Moscow of plotting a coup against the Soviet government. Stalin ensured an enormous theatrical legal process in which both the witnesses, the suspects and the judges lied to themselves and the outside world.
