Ibaraki Hitachiota Ryujin Dam Immediate release after 0:30 am October 13th 0:52

Ibaraki Prefecture started emergency discharge from 0:35 am because the water level of the Ryujin Dam in Hitachiota City was rising due to the influence of Typhoon No. 19.

Emergency discharge is called disaster prevention operation at the time of abnormal flooding. Unlike normal discharge, when it is assumed that no more water can be accumulated in the dam, a large amount of water flowing into the dam is flowed downstream.

In Ibaraki Prefecture, the water level of the Yamada River flowing through Hitachiota City downstream of the Ryujin dam rises suddenly with the release and calls for strict caution to residents in the basin as there is a risk of flooding.
