Heavy rains More than 50 houses and other damage Damaged by dwellers at dawn Okayama Niimi September 4, 12:31

In Okayama Prefecture, on the 3rd of the night, heavy rains fell in the north, and houses were flooded in Niimi City.

According to Niimi-shi, houses were drenched in the heavy rain on the 3rd night and earth and sand flowed in. One building was completely destroyed at 8 am on the 4th, and the nursery school and 5 houses were on the floor. In other words, it was confirmed that 45 floors were damaged by water under the floor.

Also, a 65-year-old woman who had been draining had a minor injury that sprained her ankle.

It is chased away after the flood damage

In the Takao area in the center of Niimi city, the surrounding roads were flooded to a height of about 20 cm, causing water to flow under the floor in several houses.

One night after the heavy rain, the residents were scooping out mud that had accumulated on the surrounding roads, and were being chased away by cleaning up the dirt.

A man in his 70s who was cleaning mud in front of his home said, “I'm working from 4:30 in the morning, but it won't end. It ’s hard to get rid of mud.”

I don't know when the nursery that was flooded would resume

At Niimi City Niimi Nursery School, the rain on the 3rd night caught water up to approximately 10 cm above the floor, and soil also flowed.

The nursery school is temporarily closed on the 4th, and approximately 20 staff members are working on restoration work such as removal of the earth and sand left in the building and washing toys dirty with mud.

For now, I don't know when the nursery can be resumed.
