Billions more for healthcare due to corona and aging

The cabinet will allocate billions more for healthcare next year.

About a third of this has to do with corona control.

Furthermore, health care costs are rising mainly due to the aging population.

The budget includes 93 billion euros for healthcare, according to the budget of millions.

Healthcare expenditure thus accounts for more than a quarter of total government expenditure.

Costs for the royal family rise, king's income exceeds a million

The estimated expenditure for the royal family will increase in 2022 from 45.7 million to 48.2 million euros, according to the budget of the royal family. The benefit that the members of the royal family receive amounts to a total of 10.5 million euros. That is 1.6 million euros more than the almost 8.9 million euros that was reserved for it in 2021.

King Willem-Alexander will receive a total of more than 6.1 million euros. For the first time, his income is slightly above 1 million. The other 5.1 million is to pay his staff and material expenses. Queen Máxima will receive 400,000 euros as income and 667,000 for personnel and material costs.

1.65 million euros has been reserved for Princess Amalia, of which 299,000 euros as income.

The intended heir to the throne will turn 18 in December.

She announced earlier this year that she will return her income until the end of her studies.

Princess Beatrix, who has resigned, will receive just a little more than her eldest grandchild: almost 1.7 million euros, of which 560,000 in income and 1.1 million in expenditure on personnel and material matters.

Health premium probably a few euros higher per month

The Ministry of Health expects the monthly premium that everyone pays for health insurance will increase by 2.75 euros next year. This brings the premium for the basic insurance to 121.25 euros per month.

The final premiums will be announced by the health insurers by November at the latest. They do not have to adhere to the estimate of the cabinet. The health care allowance rises along with the higher health care premium, so that people with a low income are compensated. The deductible remains at least 385 euros.

The premium of the basic insurance increases by +- €2.75 per month.

The health insurers determine the premium in November.

The maximum health care allowance largely compensates for the premium increase and the deductible remains the same. Want to know more?

Dutch Data Protection Authority dissatisfied with budget

The Dutch Data Protection Authority (AP) is dissatisfied with the budget of 25 million euros that the outgoing cabinet wants to allocate to the regulator. Outgoing minister Sander Dekker (Legal Protection) said in May that a judgment on the increase is up to the next - not yet formed - cabinet.

"This is very worrying. We have not been able to do our job well enough for years, simply because we have too few people. But instead of an increase, our budget is frozen," said chairman Aleid Wolfsen, who states that the AP has at least 100 euros. million needs.

The AP has been begging for more money for years. The privacy watchdog says it needs more staff. The supervisor spends the money on, among other things, enforcement and information.

Peace returns to the House of Representatives building, one arrest has been made

It is quiet again at the temporary House of Representatives building in The Hague, where the police had to intervene earlier today to keep protesters away.

By 3.30 p.m., most of the demonstrators had left.

At least one arrest has been made.

The activists, who mainly demonstrated against the corona policy, were previously called on by the police to go from the Plein to the Malieveld.

The police on horseback had to prevent people from walking to the house of the House of Representatives and blocked the way.

The demonstrators were pushed back and locked in a specially equipped compartment further on.

They were allowed to take action there.

It involved dozens of people who shouted slogans such as "abuse of power" and "caps" at the police.

There were also protesters elsewhere in the area.

A spokesman for the mayor of The Hague Jan van Zanen said earlier on Tuesday that the crowd had been referred to the Malieveld because there is more space there.

The demonstration was also not reported and there is talk of "a poorly approachable organization", the spokesman explained.

Wages are rising, but life is also becoming more expensive

Purchasing power will increase by an average of 0.1 percent in the coming year, according to estimates by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment.

That means that with our income we can buy 0.1 percent more in the store.

Our wages are rising due to the strong economic recovery.

But because prices are also rising at the same time, purchasing power below the line remains roughly the same.

Hoekstra believes that despite the caretaker status, the cabinet is doing a lot, but recognizes that more needs to be done when the formation is finally successfully completed.

"If you look at the substantial investments we are making in climate, security, the housing market and education, that is more than just a matter of time. However, there are still plenty of problems on the table. battle."

Hoekstra: "The developments show that our safety is not certain. Normally a caretaker government takes a conservative stance, but the developments force us to invest in tackling the climate crisis, organized crime and the housing shortage. The longer you wait, the greater this will be. I hope that we can hold on to what we have shown in corona time, namely a resilient society. Then I am confident that we can face the future together."

a few seconds ago

Hoekstra: "The plans here in The Hague had an immediate impact on the lives of the Dutch. Ratio and emotion, policy and practice, were even more connected than usual. There are many examples of people helping each other and making the most of difficult circumstances. Remarkably, the near economic future is in good shape, thanks to entrepreneurs and society, thanks to the support packages. The economy is growing and finances are in better shape than previously anticipated, but that does not always say something about the individual lives of people. The old normal is not back for them yet. The corona crisis has shown that we are more dependent on prosperity and well-being than the economy."

a few seconds ago

Hoekstra: "Everyone who has ever followed economics knows the importance of economic choices. Theory and practice can turn out very differently. Economics is unfortunately not an exact science. During the corona crisis, we saw people who made decisions not out of self-interest, but to look after each other. The Dutch supported each other. That is far from the calculating person, who is only concerned with self-interest."

Square in The Hague closed off because of demonstration

The Square in The Hague has been closed off because of the demonstration that is currently taking place there.

The approximately 150 demonstrators are not allowed to leave the Square, there are agents at all access roads.

According to a police spokesperson, this was decided in consultation with the municipality because the demonstration, which appears to be mainly aimed at the corona policy, had not been reported.

Around noon, the protesters tried to leave the Square, but were stopped by the police.

"They are currently given the opportunity to demonstrate in the Square and are not allowed to walk," said the spokesperson.

According to the spokesman, the demonstration is peaceful and no arrests have been made.

"Today we realize how 75 years of peace has brought prosperity to our country. In the world we live in, everything is interconnected. Every turn of the cube affects more areas and levels. The Netherlands remains a reliable international partner in this. Out of self-interest ", but also for the rest of the world. Our soldiers deserve respect for the difficult task they have in this. The government is making extra money available for operations and assistance to veterans."

"Membership of the EU and the UN are the cornerstones of our international role. Cooperation remains the basis for security policy. In the EU, the priority is on corona recovery, the Green Deal and the EU as a community of values. Nothing is allowed in the countries of the EU be a reason for exclusion or discrimination. The rule of law is the foundation of a free society. That rule of law is under pressure."

"An important impetus has been given to reducing CO2 emissions. The recent ruling in the Urgenda case forces us to accelerate. The government is committed to making industry more sustainable and electric driving. By 2030, CO2 emissions must be reduced by 55 percent. Extra efforts will be needed in the coming years to achieve this, but it also offers opportunities. Opportunities for a cleaner and safer country, but also in the export of Dutch knowledge."

a few seconds ago
