Former Member of Parliament Satu Taiveaho, 44, and her husband Ville Virtanen have applied for a divorce, says Iltalehti.

The couple’s marriage is getting quite short as their wedding was celebrated in August last year.

According to Iltalehti, Taiveaho and Virtanen filed for divorce together in the Kouvola District Court on Monday, June 26.

On the same day, Satu has changed her last name from Taiveaho-Virtanen back to just Taiveaho.

The couple’s love story progressed at a rapid pace.

They got engaged in December 2019 and married in August 2020. That same summer, Taiveaho moved to live with Virtanen in Hamina.

This spring, however, the duo’s love began to crack when Seiska reported in March that Taiveaho had moved out of the couple’s shared home.

At that time, the address service was confirmed to IS as Taiveaho's current address in Kuusankoski, Kouvola.

Taiveaho had also updated his new residence on social media.

Taiveaho was to run in this year's municipal elections in the ranks of the Hamina SDP.

However, he announced that he was leaving the game.

In the late spring, he ran for the same party in his new hometown of Kouvola, and was elected to the city council.

The wedding of Taiveaho and Virtanen was celebrated on 24 August 2020 in the couple's then hometown of Hamina.

They were married on a sailing ship called the Vivan in the Hamina archipelago off Kuorsalo.

The newlywed couple were immortalized in romantic wedding photos in which they posed together on the deck of a sailing ship.

Nancy Mäki, who took the photos, described the wedding to IS as an intimate and wedding couple-like event.

Taiveaho talked about his lightning love in an interview with Eeva magazine in December 2020. He revealed Virtanen had approached him with a dating request, but Taiveaho rejected the first message, citing haste.

A few months later, in the fall of 2019, there was a new invitation to ski and the situation was different.

Immediately after the first meeting, Taiveaho called his best friend and said that he had found a good man.

- The tattoo taken by Ville was a strong sign that he is serious with me and ready to commit.

The act was insanely wonderful and beautiful, although it came as a surprise to me, Taiveaho said in an interview.

The divorce is another for Taiveaho, as he has previously been married to Antti Kaikkonen (center), who now serves as Minister of Defense.

The couple got engaged in June 2006 and they got married in July 2008. The duo spoke openly about their infertility and have two surrogate children.

Taiveaho and Kaikkonen resigned in September 2018.
