The small apartment building caught fire in Loviisa on Nordenskiöldintie late Sunday evening.
According to Antti Virtanen, the fire chief on duty at the Eastern Uusimaa Rescue Department, the apartment was completely destroyed in the fire.
He describes the fire as violent.
The rescue service received information about the fire after eleven in the evening.
At the time of the fire, there was one person and his dog in the apartment on the first floor of the house.
According to Virtanen, the neighbor saved the apartment from the resident's balcony.
The resident was slightly injured and hospitalized.

The rescue department put out the fire, cleared the outbreaks and ventilated the stairwell.
There were ten rescue units on the scene.
The fire did not spread to other apartments in the apartment building, but the apartments on the ground floor suffered from smoke damage.
The Rescue Department currently has no information on how the fire began.
Police and the rescue service are investigating the cause of the fire.
