Belarus, which lost the World Hockey Championships on Monday, deplores the decision of the International Hockey Federation IIHF to withdraw the tournament from Minsk.

On Tuesday, the Organizing Committee of the Minsk World Championships presented its views on the website of the Belarussian government.

The organizers of the race consider the cancellation of the World Cup in Belarus to be unjustified.

The position paper calls the IIHF decision "a precedent for the use of sporting events as a tool to please political demagogues".

The International Hockey Federation IIHF announced on Monday that no World Championships will be held in Belarus next May-June. The IIHF formally justified the decision on security grounds, but the most veiled reason was the repeated human rights violations in Belarus.
