The shoemaker's children have no shoes - nor an automatic alarm system at the fire station.
In Sweden, it was apparently assumed that the fire station could not burn.
But yes it can.
The fire station in the small municipality of Hörby in Skåne burned to the ground in a fire that started on Thursday morning.
According to Aftonbladet, only the fire station's office space could be saved from flames.
Hörby Fire Station does not have a 24-hour on-call service.
When part-time firefighters arrived at work in the morning, they had to try to save their own jobs for the first time.
- It was not a nice experience to put out a fire in your own workplace, firefighter Gustaf Sandell described in Sydsvenskan.
According to Sydsvenskan, the fire broke out in the morning in about three countries.
One of the Hörby firefighters who came to work sounded the alarm at 3.15am, when the station was already burning heavily.
Had the fire station had an automatic alarm system, the fire-fighting work would have started earlier and Hörby's own firefighters would have been better prepared for the fire site.
Extinguishing work was hampered by gas cylinders in the fire station premises, which were feared to explode.
As a result, the surroundings of the fire station were isolated within a radius of 300 meters, and extinguishing work also had to be stopped from time to time due to the risk of explosion.
A general hazard notice was also issued for the fire in the vicinity due to heavy smoke generation.
A violent fire began early Thursday morning in the garage garage.
The fire reached the stage of full combustion before the firefighters finally got to the scene, meaning there was nothing to be done to save the building.
- When we arrived at the scene, flames knocked out the garage doors, and the fire had also spread to the roof structures, firefighter Daniel Green described according to Aftonbladet.
Hörby Fire Department fire trucks and other fire extinguishers were stored in the garage.
Most of the fire trucks and other equipment had time to get out of the burning hall, the fireman’s passenger car and some of the equipment went with the flames.
Now the Hörby fire brigade has to find new places to operate and store fire trucks.
A total of 16 units from four different neighborhoods were extinguishing the fire.
At least the cause of the fire was not immediately known.
Police are beginning to investigate whether there is reason to suspect a crime in the case.
The fire did not require any casualties and no one was injured.
