The winter tire requirement is thus kind of extended by a month in both autumn and spring, but at the same time a completely new kind of responsibility is transferred to the motorist.

- In the new road-based model, the responsibility for using winter tires is even greater for the driver.

Although summer tires can also be used in November-March, weather permitting, in practice it is still not possible and especially not possible to drive just summer tires under the winter.

- In cold weather or slippery weather, even a slipper on summer tires endangers not only your own safety but also that of other road users.

In Finland, winter tires, friction or studs developed specifically for northern winter conditions are needed.

It is also important that winter tires are not driven in the summer, as winter tires are equally a safety risk in warm weather, Sunnari states.
