The Viking Line's M / S Amorella at the Naantali repair yard has revealed extensive electrical damage, says Ålandstidningen.

Amorella ran aground on Sunday 20 September at 12.50 in Hjulgrund in the Åland archipelago.

Water entering the ship during the accident has caused electrical damage and a large portion of the equipment needs to be replaced.

- The damage is wider than I initially thought, Ulf Hagström, Technical Director of Viking Line, commented to Ålandstidningen.

Amorella, who was on her way to Stockholm, was driven to the island of Järsö after the accident, from where it was towed to Långnäs harbor.

The ship arrived in Naantali on 24 September.

Amorella’s bad luck continued at the shipyard as a fire broke out on board on Thursday.

- A small fire broke out on Thursday in the ship's auxiliary room during welding work. It was turned off immediately. Some electricity cable had time to burn, Johanna Boijer-Svanström, Viking Line's communications manager, told Ilta-Sanomat.
