An Apache helicopter from Defense made a precautionary landing on Wednesday evening in the vicinity of the Gelderland municipality of Elburg.

The Defense Helicopter Command reports this on Twitter.

The reason for this landing is still unclear.

The Apache landed around 9:00 PM.

The aircraft will remain on the landing site in a meadow all night from Wednesday to Thursday.

The Ministry of Defense has not disclosed exactly where that is.

A technical team is investigating the helicopter.

More information about the incident is expected later Thursday.

The Dutch Air Force owns 28 Apache aircraft.

These have been deployed in Afghanistan, Iraq and Mali, among others.

The entire fleet will be renovated from 2020 to 2025.
