A 'torture complex' found in a small Brabant village gave a shocking picture of the Dutch underworld.

In July, the police raided a shed with seven sea containers that together turned out to be a prison.

Reporter Joris Peters attended the first hearing in this case.

Six thoroughly insulated containers were arranged as cells with buoys and a chemical toilet where victims could be held for a long time.

A seventh was to serve as a torture chamber.

It contained a dental chair and instruments of torture were found.

Six men are on trial in the case.

They are suspected of preparing for multiple kidnappings, hostage-taking, aggravated assault, extortion and participation in a criminal organization.
