Berlin (dpa / tmn) - Ten days of vacation on the balcony? With this prospect, some employees find it more tempting to have their employer paid for their vacation.
That is also possible, says specialist lawyer Alexander Bredereck from Berlin. The labor law expert points out, however, that employees do not lose their vacation entitlement as a result. Employers should pay particular attention to this.
In purely theoretical terms, an employee could request to take the vacation even if he had previously received it from the employer. As a rule, however, hardly anyone will go to court because of this. "If nobody complains, this is possible and also common during the current employment relationship," summarizes Bredereck.
If, on the other hand, an employment relationship ends, things look a little different. Those who can no longer take their vacation receive money for it. "In this case, the employer is even obliged to pay off the vacation," says the specialist lawyer.
