A 24-year-old man died on Saturday after being shot at a busy swimming spot in Amsterdam earlier in the day. The shooter is still on the run, police report.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries, but help to no avail.

The shooting took place around 4.25 pm on a beach on De Nieuwe Meer, located in the southwest of Amsterdam. Many people were there because of the tropical temperatures. For example, children were also playing in the vicinity.

Nothing has been disclosed about the circumstances of the incident. The police report that the police are looking for images that were taken around the time of the shooting. Witnesses are also asked to report if they have not yet been in contact with the police.

The police report that they are looking for a man between twenty and thirty years of age with a light skin color, black curls and a goatee. The suspect has a thin build and was wearing sunglasses and a hat. He was wearing blue swimming trunks and a purse. The police are calling on people who see the man not to approach him, but to call 112.
