Several people have been injured in Turma on Friday, where an Air India Express passenger plane derailed during a landing in Kozhikode, Kerala, India, the BBC reported.
The Reuters news agency first reported that at least two were feared dead and 35 injured in the accident. The news agency later reported that the pilot was allegedly dead and dozens of passengers had been taken to hospital.
The plane departing from Dubai had at least 185 passengers.
A local TV company said the machine split in half. Rain interferes with rescue work.
