Raubling (dpa) - After the signing of Nils Politt, the future of three-time world champion Peter Sagan at the German bike stable Bora-hansgrohe is uncertain.
“Let's see what happens to the Sagan personnel at our company. He is one of the most expensive professionals out there. We will evaluate Sagan's performance at the end of the year. And then we'll see what happens next, ”said team boss Ralph Denk to the“ Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger ”. Sagan's contract expires in 2021.
The team had previously announced the commitment of the Cologne native Politt. The 26-year-old is one of the classic specialists, as is Sagan. Last year, Politt, who signed with Bora-hansgrohe for three years, took second place at Paris-Roubaix, for example. Maximilian Schachmann, who was tied to the racing team from Raubling for another four years, is also a man for the one-day races.
With Sagan's signing in 2017, the German team was suddenly in the international spotlight. The Slovakian secured many victories - whether at the World Cup or the Tour de France - for the team. Sagan also earns several million euros a year and is one of the top earners in the industry.
