Motorists must take into account crowded Dutch roads on Saturday, reports the ANWB. The traffic service expects traffic jams due to recreational traffic and various activities. In addition, it will also be busy on the German and French roads because of holidaymakers.

Saturday will be especially busy on the A1 from Hengelo to Apeldoorn near Deventer and around Arnhem on the A12. It will also be busy in the east and south of the country and on roads to Friesland and Zeeland.

Since Thursday evening, the N3 between Dordrecht and Papendrecht has been closed in both directions between the Dordrecht-Centrum exit and the connection to the A15. The road opens again on Monday morning.

Saturday will also be busy on European roads. This is how the holiday started in Bavaria, Germany. As usual, it will get very busy on the roads around Hamburg. To the south, delays around Cologne and between Frankfurt and Nuremberg should also be taken into account.

Also busy on August 1 and 8

Motorists traveling to southern Germany should not drive on the A61 from Venlo to Karlsruhe, because the road near Mönchengladbach is closed due to works. This is expected to last until mid-August.

Crowds are also expected on the French roads to the south and west on Saturday. It will be particularly busy between 11am and 3pm on the A13 between Paris and Rouen, the A7 between Lyon and Orange and the A8 near Aix-en-Provence.

The ANWB expects even more traffic on European roads on Saturday 1 and 8 August.
