The Presley family has experienced hardships over the past couple of weeks. Benjamin Keough, the grandson of Elvis and Lisa Marie Presley, died of a gunshot wound on July 12. The death of 27-year-old Keough was a huge shock to the family, as well as to his girlfriend.
Now Elvis ’former spouse Priscilla Presley has broken the silence after the death of her granddaughter. Presley posted an article on his official Facebook account describing the pain and sadness of his family.
- These are the darkest days in my family's life. The shock of losing Ben is overwhelming. Reconciling all the pieces and causes has permeated my soul.

According to Priscilla, it is especially touching for her to think of the tremendous pain her daughter Lisa Marie is experiencing.
- Every day I wake up and pray that this would get better. Then I think of my daughter and the pain she is going through because she was a godly mother. Ben’s father Danny, who is completely lost, for Ben was his only son.
Presley also mentions in his writing Keough’s siblings Riley and 11-year-old twins Finley and Harper, who admired Keought and missed this deeply.
- Rest in peace Ben, you were loved, Presley concludes.
Priscilla Presley was married to Elvis from 1967-1973. Lisa Marie is the couple’s only child, as their union began to crack shortly after the wedding as Elvis spent plenty of time away from home. Priscilla also has an adult Navaro boy from his relationship with Marco Garibaldi.

Keough's death is suspected to have been suicide, but information has not been confirmed. Keough died at his mother’s Lisa Marie Presley villa in the Calabasas district of Los Angeles.
Dail Mail reported shortly after his death that, according to a neighbor, there were noises from the Presley villa on Sunday morning partying. A neighbor says she heard a distressed woman shout “don’t do it” at three in the morning. The woman is believed to have been Keough's girlfriend Pinto.
Another resident of the neighborhood said police arrived at the villa at six in the morning. The resident heard police talking to an upset woman in the backyard of the villa. He believes the woman was Keough's girlfriend.
