André Hazes' Lego statue that was placed on Dam Square in Amsterdam six days ago has been destroyed. The head and hat are in pieces next to the statue. Several Amsterdammers report this to news partner AT5 .

Street Art Frankey commissioned the business association Dam and placed it last Tuesday in the square in front of the palace, on the day that the singer would have turned 69 years old. The artist wanted to immediately cheer up the concrete blocks on the Dam, he said.

Although the artist did not have a permit to place the image, it was popular with many. On the first day, dozens of people had their photos taken with Lego Hazes.

Passers-by tried to restore the image during the night from Sunday to Monday, but were unsuccessful. Monday morning the head and hat were again next to the statue. It is not clear whether the damage can be repaired.
