Several groups of farmers protested Saturday evening against the decision of Carola Schouten (Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality) to ban the addition of protein in animal feed. In this way, Schouten wants to reduce nitrogen emissions, but the farmers disagree. In the north of the country in particular, groups of farmers took to the streets with their tractors.

A number of farmers met on the A28 at the Hoogeveen junction on Saturday evening around 11:30. They blocked the road with their agricultural vehicles. Police officers on the spot have been talking to the farmers, a police spokesperson said. Six farmers were thrown on the bill for involvement in the blockade. After an hour, the junction was released again and traffic started again.

Farmers also drove their tractors on various roads in Friesland and Groningen, but it does not seem to be blockades.

Furthermore, dozens of tractors drove through Amsterdam. It was agreed with the police that they can make a round, but they should not drive on the canals and should not go to Dam Square. Agents guided the farmers so that the action would run smoothly. Around half past eleven the farmers left town again, AT5 writes .
