The career of the promising Niko Kari who drove the Formula 3 series was hit hard. The driver was fired from the Charouz stable just before the opening weekend of the F3 season in Spielberg, Austria.
Kari, 20, said in a statement. According to him, the Czech garage unilaterally terminated the contract and hired a Czech to transport him.
- The situation right now is confusing. I had a valid driver’s contract for the entire season and I had carefully prepared for the start of the season. We don't know yet what's to come, but I'm sure I'm not on the line this weekend, Kari said of his situation in his press release.
Kari had already had time to travel to Austria ready to compete. The situation is challenging, as the corona-delayed season is driven at a brisk pace.
- Even if the situation with the team becomes clearer, even a single missed race means the loss of championship or medal opportunities, as all results are counted towards the end points, Kari said.
- A driver's contract terminated two days before the start of the season is a challenging situation for my career.
The decision of the team was a surprise for the Finn, because two days ago he was excited about the race season that is finally starting. Enthusiasm was evident, among other things, from a picture he published on Instagram.
- Finally a race week after a long wait. I can't wait to get back on track, he wrote at the time with the picture.
Kari was 12th in the FIA F3 series last year. He grabbed two podium places during the season after finishing third in Barcelona and Sochi.
