A serial killer known as the Golden State Killer has confessed to his crime in the United States.
On Monday, former police officer Joseph James DeAngelo Jr. pleaded guilty to several murders in the 1970s and 1980s, as well as dozens of rapes and kidnappings.

DeAngelo, 74, avoids the death penalty with his confession.
DeAngelo was arrested after a 40-year search in 2018 after his relatives submitted their DNA samples for genealogy.
