Denver: No more tear gas and rubber bullets against protesters
A federal judge in the American city of Denver has banned the police in that city from using tear gas and rubber bullets against Black Lives Matter protesters. The ruling was made in a civil act case filed against the police and the city of Denver, CBS reports

Human rights organizations had filed the case after police crackdown on peaceful demonstrations last week. The judge passed judgment after seeing various images of the police attacking peaceful protesters and journalists with tear gas and rubber bullets without any warning, which should now only be used in such situations after permission from the police summit.

Mayor Theo Weterings has complimented the organization. "The demonstration went well, in a dignified manner. It is very good that they have conveyed their message in this way. Compliments also that the organization always spoke to people about the measures."

Given the circumstances, Weterings did not mind that more people came to the demonstration than previously estimated. An estimated 700 people were present, while the municipality had given permission for 500. "Given the way in which the organization continued to adjust, this fit within the margins of the scenarios that we took into account," said the mayor.

Sit-in demonstration tomorrow in Maastricht city park
A Black Lives Matter demonstration will be organized in Maastricht tomorrow. The protest against racism and police brutality starts at 2 p.m. in city park De Griend. As before, a sit-in is organized in Utrecht, where attendees are asked to sit on the floor. The organization will draw circles where people can sit, so that the one and a half measure can be maintained. Protesters are also asked to wear face masks.

A (small) demonstration was also held in Maastricht last Monday. About a hundred people then protested on the Markt.
