Attendo care company strongly urges that all visits to elderly care homes be avoided due to increased coronary risk. Attendo points out that the risk of coronavirus in the elderly is greater than for others: this virus is more likely to cause serious symptoms in the elderly.

Attendo believes that avoiding visits is a prerequisite for protecting residents.

- Instead of visiting, we encourage relatives and loved ones to call their loved ones who live in Attendo homes. We are currently exploring how to get a tablet in each nursing home that would allow our residents and their loved ones to have video calls, says Virpi Holmqvist, Attendo Business Manager.

He admits that a strong call to avoid visits may seem harsh.

- However, we now believe that it is better to introduce safeguard measures in a timely manner than too late.

Holmqvist said that the feedback Attendo had already received on the call to avoid visits has been largely positive.

“My family and our clients have realized that the situation is unique.

Close coexistence to the last minutes

The invitation to avoid visits is valid at Attendo Nursing Homes for the time being.

"Based on the infection rates, we will closely monitor when this arrangement can be removed," Holmqvist promises.

In almost all situations, visits to care homes do not need to be avoided now.

- Your loved ones can come to be with our residents who are at the last moments of their lives. Such visits are specifically agreed upon with loved ones.
