Palo Alto (dpa) - The smartphone start-up Essential by Andy Rubin, who is considered the father of the Android mobile system, gives up with a lot of laurels.

Rubin led the Android business until 2013 and left Google in 2014. After that, venture capital firm founded Playground and later Essential.
