Berlin (dpa) - There was an unscheduled break in the Bundestag on Friday - because the entire federal cabinet was missing from the government bank.
Foreign Minister Heiko Maas (SPD) disappeared after his speech in the debate on foreign cultural and educational policy. The first parliamentary managing director of the Greens faction, Britta Haßelmann, then asked for an interruption of the session.
Maas returned to the plenary chamber after a few minutes and apologized for the fact that a small arms conference was currently underway in the Federal Foreign Office with about ten foreign ministers from the Western Balkans and other European countries. "But of course I'm going to stay here until the end of the debate," he said.
However, the first parliamentary managing director of the FDP parliamentary group, Marco Buschmann, showed little understanding: «The German government is making an increasingly poor impression: politically, it is no longer successful. And now all decency towards the parliament is lost, ”was the comment of the FDP politician.
