Munich (dpa) - Ex-world champion Thomas Müller keeps himself covered for a possible assignment for the German Olympic selection.
"I haven't had any talks with Stefan Kuntz yet," said the Bayern professional in the ZDF sports studio. The discussion about his participation in the selection of the German Football Association at the summer games in Tokyo was "a nice gimmick for the media", said Müller.
Before the Olympics, there were many other attractive competitions, emphasized Müller. In addition to the Bundesliga, the DFB Cup and the Champions League, the 30-year-old also listed the European Championship. National coach Joachim Löw had sorted Müller out of the A selection after 100 caps in March 2019.
Olympic coach Kuntz put Müller on a list with a total of around 50 possible candidates that had to be reported to the National Anti-Doping Agency by January 15. The tournament may include three players per team who were born before January 1, 1997.
