Berlin (dpa) - The Libya conference organized by the federal government has begun in the Berlin Chancellery. The aim of the meeting is to consolidate the recently agreed ceasefire in the civil war country and to agree on a consistent implementation of the arms embargo. Chancellor Angela Merkel received, among others, the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Russia's President Vladimir Putin and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. Merkel and Foreign Minister Heiko Maas spoke in advance with Libyan Prime Minister Fajis al-Sarradsch and his opponent General Chalifa Haftar.
