Cologne (dpa / tmn) - Peugeot increases the tension: After the French introduced the new 208 and its long-legged relatives with electric drives in 2008, the 508 now also has a battery and thus becomes a plug-in hybrid.

The prices for the sedan start at 44,000 euros, the station wagon costs 1,100 euros more, the manufacturer said and announced the market launch for the end of January.

The 508 reaches an electric speed of 135 km / h

The plug-in drive combines a 1.6 liter petrol engine with 133 kW / 181 hp with an electric motor with 81 kW / 110 hp and a lithium-ion battery in the vehicle floor. This has a capacity of 11.5 kWh and enables a WLTP standard range of up to 54 kilometers. Then the 508 has to be plugged in for 2.5 to 6.5 hours, depending on the charging capacity.

Purely electrically, the 508 reaches a maximum of 135 km / h. If both engines work together, the top model of the brand has a system output of 165 kW / 225 hp and a top speed of 240 km / h. Depending on the body variant, Peugeot specifies the standard consumption as 1.3 liters (30 g / km CO2) at best.

The SUV 3008 also gets a connector

Sedan and station wagon do not start alone. The SUV 3008 is available as a part-time Stromer Hybrid4 on the same date. There the gasoline engine delivers 147 kW / 200 PS and is coupled with two electric motors: one 81 kW / 110 PS strong Stromer is integrated in the automatic, a second with 83 kW / 112 PS is on the rear axle and makes the SUV temporarily to all-wheel drive. The system output increases to 220 kW / 300 PS.

Thanks to the slightly larger battery with 13.2 kWh, the 3008 has a WLTP range of up to 65 kilometers and a standard consumption of 1.5 liters (34 g / km CO2).
