Las Vegas (dpa / tmn) - The German smart home specialist Eve System has introduced an indoor surveillance camera that is completely geared towards the Apple ecosystem.
In contrast to other manufacturers, the Eve Cam works exclusively with the standard HomeKit Secure Video from Apple. The data is saved in the iCloud. The device, which notifies users in the event of burglars in the house, was presented at the electronics fair CES in Las Vegas (until January 10).
ICloud subscription required
With the Apple technology, access of third parties to live images and recordings is excluded, said Jerome Gackel, head of Eve System. The compact camera delivers video streams and recordings in 1080p resolution (1920 to 1080 pixels) at 24 frames per second, has a night mode, a magnetic base and two-way communication via microphone and loudspeaker.
To operate the Eve Cam you need an Apple Home Hub, i.e. a HomePod or Apple TV. And to save videos online, you need at least a 200 GB iCloud storage (2.99 euros per month). There are no other subscription fees.
Eve Water Guard warns of water damage
At CES, Eve Systems also presented the Eve Water Guard, which the company had already announced at the previous IFA. The device sounds the alarm if it detects a water leak in the kitchen or other rooms.
Eve Water Guard can now be pre-ordered for just under 80 euros and will be delivered from February 12, Eve Cam costs just under 150 euros and will be launched in April.
