15 years after the deadly tsunami in Indonesia

On Boxing Day 2004, a severe earthquake off the coast of the Indonesian island of Sumatra caused a tsunami that spread over the Pacific Ocean at a speed of 900 kilometers per hour. It was Thursday 15 years ago that the tsunami reached mainland Southeast Asia, killing more than 230,000 people, injuring hundreds of thousands of people and making millions of people homeless.
