Berlin (AFP) VW boss Herbert Diess has defended the decision to put the plans for a new plant in Turkey in the face of the military offensive in northern Syria for the time being on ice. As long as people were killed, VW would "not lay a cornerstone next to a battlefield," wrote Diess in English in the Careers Network LinkedIn. Nevertheless, the near Izmir planned plant "in the economic interest" of the group.
