Weather: harbinger of winter: snowfall in the Harz and the southwest

Wernigerode (dpa) - In the Harz and in the southwest harbingers of the approaching winter have shown. The snowfall on the Brocken - the highest mountain of the Harz in Saxony-Anhalt - is expected to last overnight, according to the Brocken weather station of the German Weather Service. As a result, the snowpack could grow to four to five centimeters. A wintry sight also existed in the highlands of Baden-Wuerttemberg. On the Swabian Alb, from about 650 meters up, there was the first remaining snow of the beginning season.
