Hamburg (AP) - The German hockey teams have solved the weekend tickets in Mönchengladbach for the 2020 Olympics. Other German teams can follow them in the next few months. The German Press Agency sends an overview:
Men - The U21 national team coached by Stefan Kuntz has qualified by their semi-final at the European Championships. In Tokyo, a U23 selection occurs, the players must have been born in 1997 or later. In addition Kuntz may nominate three older players.
Women - Coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg's team missed one of three European starting places in the World Cup quarter-finals. Olympia 2020 will take place without the gold winner of 2016.
Men - If the team of national coach Christian Prokop in January European champion, she would be automatically qualified. Otherwise, the DHB selection must play a qualifying tournament, which will take place in the spring of 2020.
Women - For the German women's handball women from 30 November to 15 December, first the World Cup in Japan. The winner is automatically qualified for the Olympics. The World Cup is also about qualifying for an elimination tournament. To be sure of this tournament, the DHB-selection has to be at least seventh.
Men - The German men have missed the direct ticket to the World Cup in China by breaking the preliminary round, but made the jump to one of four qualifying tournaments. They have to win this in the coming summer to go to Tokyo.
Women - The German women's national team has no more chance to qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Basketball 3 against 3:
Men - Three to four out of eight places are awarded directly from the world ranking, where the German men are far behind. The other participants will be determined by qualification tournaments.
Women - German women are better in the world rankings than men. The qualification of the eight teams is analogous.
Men / Women - The German hockey teams have solved the Tokyo tickets at the weekend in Mönchengladbach. The DHB men prevailed in two duels 5: 0 and 5: 3 against Austria, the DHB women held against Italy with 2: 0 and 7: 0 the upper hand.
Men - The team of Andrea Giani wants to make the jump to Tokyo from January 5th to 10th in the Max-Schmeling-Halle in Berlin. However, the competition with European Champion Serbia, France and Vice-European Champion Slovenia is huge in the one-match tournament.
Women - Felix Koslowski's team is fighting for their last Olympic chance in the Netherlands from 7 to 12 January. Among the sharpest German competitors for the last European starting place count at the eight -turn tournament Vice European champion Turkey and the Olympic fourth from the Netherlands.
Men - 15 of the 24 grid positions will be awarded by the World Ranking Placement on 15 June 2020. Vice-World Champions Julius Thole and Clemens Wickler (Hamburg) are in the preliminary ranking in fifth place and have practically qualified already. Other Tokyo tickets will be awarded through qualifying tournaments.
Women - Qualification is the same for women as it is for men. Currently Karla Borger and Julia Sude (Stuttgart) are in eleventh place. Olympic champion Laura Ludwig and her partner Margareta Kozuch (Hamburg) jumped to 14th place in the first joint tournament victory in Rome. A maximum of two male and two female teams from Germany can qualify.
Men - The German water polo players want to qualify for the Olympic Games next year. For this, however, the selection at the European Championships in Budapest 2020 must first secure the place for the following qualifying tournament in Rotterdam.
Women - German women could also qualify for the Olympics through Budapest and a tournament in Italy. That is unlikely.
Baseball / Softball:
Men / Baseball - The DBV men did not make it to the Olympics. At the European Championships in Bonn, they did not come in the top five teams and thus missed the qualifying tournament for Tokyo.
Women / Softball - The DBV softball team does not go to Tokyo. The team could not solve a ticket for the Olympic qualifier.
Men / Women - Both teams have failed in the elimination. The men in the quarterfinals to Ireland, the women already in the preliminary round.
