Tokyo (dpa) - Japan's new emperor Naruhito has proclaimed his enthronement in a ceremony marked by age-old traditions. He assures, in accordance with the Constitution, his responsibility as a symbol of the state and unity of the Japanese people, said the 59-year-old monarch from his throne. The monarch wore a brown-orange robe with a century-old design. The 30-minute ceremony called "Sokuirei Seiden no gi" is the coronation ceremony in other countries.
