The police arrested a 37-year-old man from Deventer on Sunday, who is suspected of having been run into a terrace in the same town's town center on Sunday morning. Five people were injured.

One of the victims could be treated on the spot. The other four were taken to a hospital. According to a police spokesperson, they were all approachable and not seriously injured.

The incident took place around 5.30 a.m. outside a cafe on Keizerstraat. The driver of the car, an Audi Q7, took off after the collision. The police take into account that he deliberately drove into the people on the terrace.

The 37-year-old suspect reported to a police station elsewhere in the country at the end of the morning and was arrested there.

According to witnesses, an argument took place prior to the incident, police report. The driver of the Audi would have been involved. Another possible person involved was arrested earlier on Sunday.

The police conduct follow-up investigations into the cause of the collision.
